computer/gaming monitors Empty computer/gaming monitors

Post  EvanErgo Sat Sep 18, 2010 10:45 am

I'll be needing a new computer monitor soon so I'm looking around. So far there's a few I'm looking at. They just need to be 20+ inches and HDMI so I can hook up my Xbox (PS3?) to them too. I don't want to buy a TV and a monitor as I don't want to take up a lot of room and spend twice as much.

So the basic one I'm looking at is Acer America S231HLbid
23 inches and has HDMI so I think I could put my comp on it and switch between consoles when I need to.

The other one is Acer America GD235HZbid
23.6 inches with HDMI but it also says stuff about 3D and that's be sweet if it work with future PS3 games and what not.

Both of these come with all of the cables so I won't have to buy pricey HDMI cords from the stores.

Just wondering do any of you guys play on computer monitors too? If so, what kind do you use? Do you know of any better ones? I just don't want to spend an arm and a leg on some 40inch+ tv that I don't really need to have. =/ I live with family right now so when my job kicks in money shouldn't be a huge deal, tho it's be nice to pay rent so I'm not free loading lol.

Anyway that's that. What do you think about them, do you have any suggestions, what do you play on?

That. Nothing else. Just that.

Three, Jesus man. I'll take your word for it then. Know if it works well with consoles?

Cheaper then the other ones I picked so that helps Very Happy

I ran my 360 from one a while back, it looked great, much better than my 50 someodd inch DLP.

Thats 3 in my household, not 3 on one rig. I've only got one of them on my main rig, with an Acer 22"

*Mr.Burn's voice* Eeeeexceltent.

I shall get one then.

Think 3D is going to worth it in gaming? Might just make me dizzy, I'll buy a bucket to sit next to the computer just in case.

I use an LG 23" w/HDMI to my 360. I think it works pretty well, and I like it better than my 42" LCD. It was super cheap, too. well, compared to a TV of the same size...

No speakers, though, but I have TBs, so it still works for me.

Looks like a mighty fine monitor L4MB. It has a audio output on it?

Is there any difference in sound when you use HDMI then plug in headphones? As opposed to using component cables on a TV and the plugging in headphones to them?

Apparently cool kids use Astros now, something else I probably have to invest in.

The monitor I linked to you isn't 3d. It is amazing though.

Do you enjoy your 12 inches of realty?

On my desktop I have ~44 inches of realty, you can do so much more.

Actually 17 inches. But I have the big 52" TV to play PS3 on so no worries.

But the actual realty of your 52" is most likely the exact same as my 21.5" ASUS. 1920x1080, if you add on my 1680 x 1050 Acer, I win. Very Happy

LOL!

All I care about is seeing pretty shiny things as if they are right in front of me. My TV does that, my desktop does that and my laptop kinda does that.

I'm a happy guy.

Heard it does them in 3D, even if you don't have a 3D screen.
