COD comparisons...

Post  mellow(802) on Sun Feb 06, 2011 6:47 am

So today I got sick of my slow internet connection and decided to play through the COD 4 single player campaign. Let me start by saying I had forgotten how fantastic this game is. IW struck a perfect balance between action and cut scenes. The cut scenes were long enough to make you care about the mission/story but not so long you just wanted to skip them. The pace of the game is great, some slow tactical stuff with some run and gun pulse pounding action thrown in. So many aspects of this game are great, the sound/score being close to the top of the list. The "Ghillied Up" mission is particurlarly good in the sound dept. When your following Capt. Macmillan through the deserted buildings all the while hearing the lost haunting sounds of the life that used to take place there, the sounds of people talking and children playing was a perfect affect. This game is better than MW2 and BO in so many ways.

I have been a fan of COD from the start of the franchise and have a long list of favorite moments but what are some COD single player campaign moments that stand out for you and why?

Everything since CoD4 has had an outstanding, albeit rather short, campaign.

My personal favourite would have to be Black Ops.

Black Ops had a great campaign, but CoD4 will always be the best in my opinion.

I thought Black Ops was a little heavy on the seizure enducing cutscenes. The parts of the campaign that you actually play are fantastic. The plot is very convoluted and some of the cutscenes made my head hurt with all the random flashing images. Some of those Vietnam missions are crazy fun......especially the river boat mission.

I never liked the Treayrch cut scenes, they're just weird to me. I like the way that you can talk in BO though.

CoD4's campaign was easily the most memorable. BO was ok, but it didn't wake me up before you go go.

I just stole CoD classic of my friend, it's pretty epic.
